Amy

Amy gets the honour of blog of the week! Amy is a stay at home mom of 4 super cute little ones. She is one of the most imaginative people I have ever met. We knew each other way back in our single days.

The stuff she comes up with for her home and her kids is so amazing, I have no idea how anyone has the time or energy to do.

Check her out, its a good thing.

Christmas!!

Today it is the day we all anxiously await. The TRUE beginning of the holiday season. The Bourne Family Christmas Craft Fair Girls Night Out. I could not come up with an acronym for that that made sense. Sorry.

What began as a few people hopping out to a local craft fair has become one of THE events of the season. It gives us time to shop, eat, bond, eat, gossip, eat and be men and kid free. Oh yeah, and eat.

We are heading to a NEW craft fair this year. Its much bigger than the old one. When you have been to the same one for years, you see that same old stuff. I'm looking for new things, because as we all know, I don't DO crafts, I BUY crafts.

I am not crafty. Well, lets be honest, I am VERY crafty in the sneaky department, ask my hubby. But not so much in the Homemaking/Decorating/Outfit creating department. I am also trying to be more selective in my craft purchases. When you are in a small apartment, you can only have SO much crap to put on a wall or a bookcase. Personally I prefer BOOKS on my bookcases.

Wish us luck!!

Best Tip ever!

I cant believe I have managed to keep this up for 12 days straight. I will admit, the scheduled publish tool helps a bit as well ;)

I am in the process of not only trying to simplify my life, but to find balance and peace in a lot of ways. I try so hard to take care of other people that I feel selfish for taking care of myself if it means I am not able to do something for someone else at the same time.

You know that saying they have every time you fly, if something goes wrong, put on your OWN oxygen mask first, so you are able to help others. Well, I'm doing it, I'm putting my mask on. I am going to have to say No a LOT more then I do already, and YES a lot more to myself.

I want 4 things from you:

1) Your best fitness tip

2) Your best calming tip

3) Your best "Holy Crap if someone doesn't do something I am going to kill my coworker with a dull letter opener" tip. AKA how to stop while the letter opener is actually within reach and calling your name, telling you to let it fulfill its true purpose.

and finally,

4) the best thing YOU ever did FOR YOURSELF!!!

Thanks all!!

Today we remember.......

A lot of people have fought and died for our freedom. We buried one here in Calgary just today. I didn't know him, but I thank him nonetheless.

I want to thank all of them, including my two Grandfathers, for what they have done to take care of us, and our freedom to live, believe, worship and love the way WE choose. You think you know what they went though, but until you are actually at a funeral watching your grandmother be handed a folded flag, you realize you have NO idea.

Please take a moment today to silently thank ALL men and women, who have given the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Also please remember those who have come home, but physically or spiritually wounded by what they have seen and lived through. It is to those we think of and thank today.

Search your brains people!

Next year I want to take a challenge, I have seen a few people do the photo of a day challenge, and I don't have the schedule to quite do that. But I would like to do a photo challenge. What I need is 52 topics. Each week I will try to take a photo that I feel embodies that particular topic.

Any suggestions for topics? I am looking for one word topics.

Remember....

as we reflect this week on those that have given their lives for us, remember that war touches us all, there are innocent people on both sides of a conflict are hurt, angry and sometimes feel helpless. Please pause my music while you watch this incredible video.

Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and "sand painting" skills to interpret Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.
